Neuromuscular Stimulation (NMES) for Pets

What is Neuromuscular stimulation (NMES)?

NMES is the use of an electrical current to stimulate muscle tissues in a target area to facilitate a muscle contraction in a particular muscle or of a whole muscle group. It can be used in patients that have decreased muscle mass due to disuse or due to neurologic disease. It can benefit patients with joint swelling, muscles loss, improper muscle firing sequences, pain or protective muscle spasming.
